Custom Foot Orthotics or Orthoses as they are currently referred as are in-shoe foot appliances which are manufactured from a three-dimensional image of the foot called a cast. This cast may be taken by wrapping the foot in plaster or by pushing the foot into a foam box while controlling the entry. These ‘casts’ may also be a 3-D digital image captured by a scanner. Orthoses are made of heat moldable materials like EVA foam or polyethylene foams of different densities. Orthopaedic Shoes are specially designed functional footwear that provide support and pain relief for patients who suffer from lower limb pain. Shoe Modifications can be anything the patient needs an accommodation for built into the shoe. For example a heel lift to manage a LLD, leg length discrepancy.
